LocalNode: Community Mesh Internet Cooperatives
A managed service that helps remote workers in underserved regions form internet cooperatives. We provide technical architecture (open-source mesh networking hardware + LoRaWAN backhaul), installation support, and ongoing network management. Local coordinators (trained by us) maintain hardware and handle billing; we take a per-user monthly fee and hardware markup. Workers get reliable 5-15 Mbps shared connectivity at 1/3 Starlink cost.

Value Proposition
Dramatically cheaper than Starlink ($25–$40/month vs. $110+), owned by users (not dependent on distant ISP), and built on open-source so no vendor lock-in. Mesh topology means coverage expands as more nodes join. Proven in rural India and parts of Africa.
Target Audience
Remote workers, freelancers, and digital nomads in Timor-Leste, rural Philippines, rural Indonesia earning $500–$2,500/month; also small businesses and clinics in same regions
Key Features
- Plug-and-play LoRaWAN gateway + mesh node hardware kits (under $300 per node)
- Cloud-based network management dashboard for coordinators to monitor uptime and allocate bandwidth
- Training program for 1–2 local coordinators per cooperative (2-day in-person or async video)
- And more, with full implementation detail...

Remote workers and digital nomads in developing regions cannot access reliable internet for workProfessionals in areas like Timor-Leste face unreliable, slow internet infrastructure that makes remote work impossible, forcing them to either relocate or abandon income opportunities. Traditional ISP solutions are unavailable or non-functional, leaving expensive satellite internet (Starlink) as the only viable option, creating a massive barrier to entry for those who cannot afford it.
