People with mental health conditions face fragmented, interrupted treatment when they move across state borders or seek care in neighboring states, as behavioral health systems, licensing requirements, and insurance coverage vary dramatically by state. Patients lose continuity with providers, must restart intake processes, and often cannot transfer medical records or prescriptions, forcing them to either abandon treatment or pay out-of-pocket. Current solutions fail because they're siloed by state regulation, creating artificial barriers that worsen mental health outcomes for an already vulnerable population.
